For those of us who have been looking for an easier way to get around in Issaquah without having to deal with traffic coming on and off the freeway, our time is almost here!
Starting this spring, there will be a new north-south connector built that will mean no more crossing over I-90 to get to one side or another of Issaquah. The city hopes to have the work done by the end of 2010.The undercrossing will connect Northwest Gilman Boulevard to Southeast 56th Street via a two-lane roadway built from the traffic signal at the post office. I’m not sure what is going to happen with the walking/biking trail that currently runs under the freeway overpass, but I’m sure it won’t go away entirely because it’s part of the whole Sammamish trail system.
